Lighten Up!

Those of us who have been caught in the web of dieting, low self image, and more often than not, feeling like a failure need to "lighten up". I am slightly embarrassed after all these years of knowing a personal God who offers so much, to admit that I still take myself way too seriously.
In December there will be the release of a new book entitled Your Whole Life: The 3D plan for Eating Right, Living Well, and Loving God. I am the author and alongside of me is Maggie Davis, nutritionist personified! Together, we are addressing the passions of our hearts. But that is a book and this is a blog... so I intend to "lighten up" on my blog.
By day I work at a Christian publishing firm in the marketing department. By night I am a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a care giver. And at my church I oversee the buildings and grounds by providing people to help dust, vacuum, plant flowers, take out air conditioners, make jams and jellies, and help the quilting guild when necessary. So in one day (like today) I have talked to a world famous illustrator, emailed a major magazine editor about an interview, worked on an exhibit at St. John the Divine cathedral in New York City, and found 15 people to do a major planting at church this afternoon and eight people to dust and vacuum the church tonight. Bored I am not!
Sitting about six inches from me is my best friend, Brittany. She has a chair next to my desk and I just run my hand through her beautiful white hair, then scratch her back, and everything feels better to me. She is a coton de tulear dog who is about to celebrate her fourth birthday. Pretty fancy breed name for such a sweet face with big black eyes - but in two seconds she lightens up my life.
This blog is to help me lighten up and I hope it will help you do the same.
